In the foodie world, where there seems to be a never-ending lists of awards or self proclamation of greatness, there are one or two genuine awards of note worth talking about and this is one of them. The Awards, judged by Guild members, celebrate excellence in the field of food writing and broadcasting. The Awards ceremony was compered by Bill Buckley and the awards were presented by the Guild’s President Xanthe Clay. The top accolade, the Lifetime Achievement Award, went to author, restaurateur and TV chef Rick Stein OBE. A man who seems to able to bridge the gape between great chef and author, who can share his passion for food in an interesting and articulate way. These awards may not be well-known outside of press circles, but are considered by many UK food writers to be amongst the most prestigious because the winners have been judged by their peers.
